This magic containers were called partimbahoan by the Batak of the Islands of Sumatra in western Indonesia. The ones with a long tapered body carved in a single horn of water buffalo, like the present example, are much rarer. The bottom and the lid are wooden. The extremely eroded surface suggests undoubtedly a great age.
Price : 4.500 €.
